“Just to warn you –” a smile has crept back into Mav’s voice “– the second you accept the wedding invite Penny and Sarah will start a shortlist of eligible partners. If I didn’t know better, I’d say the wedding was just an elaborate excuse concocted by those two to fix you up.”
Ice’s daughter is getting married and if Bradley doesn’t take a plus one to the wedding, he’ll either make some very bad decisions about hooking up with an ex, or be subjected to Sarah Kazansky and Penny Benjamin trying to fix him up with one of the other guests. Desperate times call for desperate measures: enter Jake Seresin, the sex worker that Bradley slept with two years ago and hasn’t forgotten about since.
Having Jake on his arm (and in his bed) is the perfect – if very expensive – solution. That is, if Bradley’s ex would stop trying to poke holes in their backstory, and if Bradley can remember that enjoying Jake’s company is one thing, developing feelings is another.

“Look at you.” Not quite an instruction, but Jake is looking, nonetheless. “Model officer. Hair cut to standards.” Rooster combs his fingers up the back of Jake’s head, hard enough that his nails scrape his scalp. The longer hair on top of his head is still ever-so-slightly damp, laced with a faint trace of vetiver and bergamot from the shampoo that costs more than the contents of Rooster’s entire bathroom cabinet. “Strong and fit.” He runs his hands down the curve of Jake’s shoulders and biceps. “Good at following orders.”
The tone of his voice shifts when he says it, husky with promise, and he watches the subtle bob of Jake’s throat in the mirror as he swallows.
