Little does she know, he's actually a master assassin--one who might just be able to help her prevent the university from shutting down the exchange program that keeps her from being sent back to Minrathous.

Lucanis never forgot the beautiful woman he saw with Illario on the night that turned his world upside down, never forgot the inexplicable feeling that their fates were tied up together. When destiny finally brought them together, he found it impossible to escape the unfamiliar feelings she inspired in him... and in Spite. It felt impossible that someone who had once fallen for his charming cousin could ever be interested in him, broken as he was.
Aurelia always knew she'd meet the Demon of Vyrantium, knew there was some sort of string tying them to each other, even after his cousin dashed her hopes and led to her getting sent away from Antiva. When her quest to save the world brought him to her, she knew that all her former interest in his cousin was a shadow compared to what she was capable of feeling. But would his loyalty to his family make it impossible for him to ever care for her in return?
This will be a slow burn, angsty romance with fluff and all the longing and "almosts" your heart could wish for. Some added context: Rook has dated Illario in the past, and Spite has feelings for Rook too.

Illario's throwing a masquerade ball to crown himself First Talon, so Lucanis and Rook do the only logical thing: sneak in as a Crow couple to save Caterina. It's a fool-proof plan with only three issues: Rook's not a Crow, Lucanis is susceptible to Illario's control, and they're not a couple.

Rook has never had a serious relationship. Ever. And as a Mourn Watcher she vastly prefers the company of wisps and dead people to the living. But as the stress of fighting two Gods who are now destroying the mortal plane begins to catch up with her, one of her companions offers to help her take the edge off. And she finds herself in a friends-with-benefits relationship with Lucanis. She quickly realizes that she is catching feelings but doesn't know what that means for them when they are running on such borrowed time.
Lucanis has never met someone like Rook. He owes her for saving him from his own personal hell in the Ossuary. But he finds that her presence does something else for him. It quells Spite. Quells so much of his internal anguish. Suddenly he finds himself seeking her out like a drug. He's not sure if that's fair for him to get addicted to her when so much rides on her in the face of the world ending. But damn him if he's not going to ride it out.
A female mage Mourn Watcher Rook / Lucanis story spanning the events of Dragon Age Veilguard. It will be mostly canon compliant but will add a good amount of spice and yearning to the relationship.

This is a Lucanis/Rook/Spite ship Fic. Follows the events of Dragon Age Veilgaurd, starting from the Ossuary with Lucanis’ POV. He is slow to come into his feelings for Riya “Rook” de Riva. On the other hand Riya is intrigued from the start. And don’t forget Spite, he ships these two Crows right away.
This fic jumps around a bit, focusing on the parts with Riya, Lucanis, and Spite. I do this to rewrite the romance to involve more Spite. It follows the story fairly closely adding only a few bits here and there until Riya helps Spite in the Fade. Then I establish their relationship so it is all set up for my afterwards fic.Series
