“How’d you do it?”
“Do what?” January asked, beyond bewildered.
“Aubrey is nice to you,” they said, accusingly.

Summary
Two months after Senator Gale had become Consul Gale, the Crossing ships had safely landed, and January had started to wake up most mornings to the sound of his spouse humming softly behind him, said spouse spent an entire morning meeting giving him a contemplative look.
It was the sort of look Gale gave a person when they were figuring out a conversational plan of attack.
Or,
River Gale would like to get better at kissing.

Summary
River reaches out and takes the glass container from them and turns it over in their hands. The chrysanthemum looks startlingly good for something that was until recently trapped in the back of their throat like an unspoken confession. The petals are only slightly bruised.
“Tell me about this,” they say.
“It’s definitely hanahaki disease,” Dr Okonkwo says.
All River knows about the disease comes from poetry and folklore, not science. It’s very rare. Legends around famous poets love to claim that they died of hanahaki disease, literally struck down by the force of their own yearning. Most of the time, it was actually just tuberculosis.
River would have preferred tuberculosis.
This is a hanahaki disease fic, but a variant where it goes away if you confess your feelings (and you die if you don't).

Summary
We had high hopes for them here at the Tharsis Inquirer, we really did. But in the end, it seems like fairy tales are just that—fairy tales. Late last night, Consul Aubrey Gale was spotted having a heated argument with their spouse Consul-Consort January Stirling on a balcony just outside Jade Hill. We don’t know what the argument was about… but it certainly didn’t look good.
