Summary
Orphaned at the age of six, and living in foster homes until the age of sixteen, Vince Noir is used to moving around from place to place, never really feeling like he belongs anywhere. A few months before his seventeenth birthday, however, he learns that his grandmother, Doris, ex-military spy and retired fighter pilot has just returned from Mexico where she spent the last ten years hiding from the Russian secret service. Suddenly, Vince's life is turned upside down as he moves in with his barking mad old Nan and is sent to Greggory's Academy, the highly questionable local school.
Talking gorillas, shaman Headmasters, Cockney dinner-ladies and a whole host of seriously under-qualified teachers are just some of the things Vince has to deal with daily at Old Gregg's. Luckily, his new friends Leroy, Neon and Ultra are there to help him along the way. The only problem is Howard Moon, who's about to make Vince's already weird life even more confusing...

The world has changed, and Martin knows the new rules as well as anyone. The monsters come when the sun sets, so you best be home before then. Blast your lights, barricade your doors. Don’t come out until morning. When Martin inadvertently stays out past sunset, he flees his monstrous pursuers and stumbles upon the Magnus Estate, eerie and seemingly abandoned, in the middle of the woods.
Inside is a man with a monstrous face and glowing eyes, who insists Martin is the key to turning the world back.

Jon and Martin drive to the safehouse in Scotland. Martin has a lot to think about.
"He wants to talk, to shake off the last vestiges of the Lonely's grasp on him. It still lingers, like the way mist clings to you, but there's not much he can do about it right now. He hasn't said two words since Jon pulled him out of the Lonely, and he hasn't really wanted to. He feels a sort of quiet inside him, peaceful but also hollow and empty. He’s not really sure what it means."

Jon is probably fine, just hiding out somewhere while the whole murder thing blows over and that's... fine. Martin is fine with that explanation. Really. He's got plenty to distract himself - like listening through the entire What the Ghost episode library, for example. Or watching Georgie Barker's Instagram livestreams.

“Kiss me.”
The words are out of his mouth before he can think and, before he can truly process what he’d uttered, Martin’s entire face has gone a lovely shade of maroon. It’s a bit like an odd little freckled sunset on his face and it’s stupid. Stupid. So stupidly cute. He’s choking, that much Jon can hear, and for a moment, Jon thinks he’s killed him or something drastic like that. Weariness is making him delusional, clearly, because something like that wouldn’t kill someone.
