Marinette is beyond frustrated. Lila has made good on her threat and isolated her from her peers. In addition, the responsibility of learning to be a guardian while trying to balance her 'normal' life and being ladybug is starting to wear on her. But then, late one night she gets devastating news delivered by Chat Noir (he didn't know she was ladybug, he just went to her because she is his 'good friend' as Adrien), he has found out that not only is he a sentimonster, but that his father is Shadowmoth!Marinette makes the hard decision of taking all the miraculous back, a thing she can do with a ritual in the Guardian's book, but that includes the Cat Miraculous, and the Peacock Miraculous, the thing that is powering what makes Adrien. The best time to do so is when Hawkmoth is unprepared, aka, when he sends out an Akuma. The plan works, Adrien is fading, and in her grief, Marinette doesn't notice that one last shot from the Akuma went off just before purifying it, sending her who knows where. When she opens her eyes, there's a monster trying to kill some kids. Well, she is still a hero, no matter where she is.
