Summary
Recovering from a drug relapse following the death of his short-lived girlfriend, Maeve Donovan, Spencer spends several months in Las Vegas to recover from his addiction and reconnect with his mother. Once released, he takes pity on Darling, an escort fleeing the city after an attempted assault from her stalker leaves her shaken to the core.
The pair trek from Nevada to Washington, D.C. in an outdated Volvo with nothing but classical music and a dream to keep them company. By the time Spencer reaches the Capitol, he's grown to care for Darling and offers her a room in his apartment until she gets back on her feet.
Feelings begin to develop between the two, though both are alarmingly oblivious. Yet just when everything seems perfect, the pair's dark, twisting pasts come hurtling back into the light.

Lyra Lestrange is, unfortunately, the daughter of the incarcerated and criminally insane Bellatrix Lestrange. It's a fact she's able to ignore while enrolled at Beauxbatons, where her classmates aren't as closely affected by her mother's infamous past. Yet her heritage is no longer easy to ignore once the Malfoys transfer her to Hogwarts after Lyra's near brush with death during her fifth year of school. The now-sixth year student is forced to give up ballet - her one true passion - and trade her best friend, Fleur Delacour, for a gang of fellow transfer misfits.
