“Oh, we're fighting now.” Out of nowhere, Sabito springs to his feet, bouncing and getting on a fight stance. “Come on, come at me if you're a MAN.”
Or… he could just do that.

Giyū blinks at Sabito slowly. He’d been expecting an answer more along the lines of “the afterlife” or “purgatory.”
“Anyway, I’m Sabito,” Sabito continues, and Giyū feels more and more lost with every word. “Although you probably know me as the Water Pillar.”

Giyuu finds himself conflicted in this very moment, wondering what in the timeline is at stake should he strike, because the annals of history are so easily altered that Sabito is standing next to him today (his own sword unsheathed and one of his hands tugging at Giyuu’s arms so hard his fingernails are digging divots into his skin.)
He worries at his bottom lip, and registers the movement of the Lower Moon, who rudely has not waited for him to finish his rumination and was unleashing a demon blood art, whose exact skillset he does not remember but reacts to on instinct.
Giyuu is struck by immense Deja Vu as he decapitates the demon once more.Tomioka Giyuu has no intention of becoming the Water Hashira again in this bright new world where Sabito is alive.
Sabito takes in a deep breath. “WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THAT?!?!”
But really, old habits don't seem to die (even when he already did).

Even as the girl’s corpse faded into ash and drifted away, the brother held whatever remained close to his chest. Without any help from the slayers, Tanjiro became a demon, and in a fight against Sabito, he unleased his final blood demon art. Inspired by KuriKuri’s work Blue. This is NOT an official sequel or anything like that, it’s just that I loved this fic so much I decided to write down my imaginings on what happened after the story ended.
Or, Giyū is sent to an alternate timeline where Sabito survives Final Selection, and he gets a second chance to be with him.
(I’d recommend reading KuriKuri’s work first bc 1, it’s amazing. And 2, things will make more sense if you read how Giyū got here in the first place & such)
