Summary
Protection. Hadn't there been something... someone he had wanted to protect once? Irritation clouding his thoughts, Akaza quickly brushed them aside, those foolish mortal virtues and values only eliciting annoyance he wasn't quite sure who to target at. The weak, right. Wasn't it a mercy to end their life early, spare them from more suffering coming with age and illness? What point was there to try and protect something that was destined to break in the end?
... what point was there to keep up this pretense, this endless tiptoeing around each other, if one day, he had to kill Kyojuro anyways...?

Summary
The world shifted once more. The ground, closer than he remembered. The stars, cold and unfeeling and so far away, it made him feel a little lost. Space around him seemed to stretch on, until he was the only one left far and wide, blood trickling out of him hot and sweet and painting the earth in pretty flowers of red.
Dying wasn't the worst. But laying here, his life blooming around him in drying crimson, surrounded by nothing and no one he held dear (You knew this would happen, you knew, and still...!) he felt a twinge of loneliness overcome him.
Or: Kyojuro wants something for himself for the first time in his life. Akaza, fearing he went too far, feels like he's drowning in guilt. Both, battling their inner demons, have to take the first step together all over again.

“You know why you’re getting punished, don’t you?” Pressing a calloused thumb to Akaza’s bottom lip, he marveled at how soft it was, at how pliantly the demon was opening his mouth and allowing him to rub over his tongue, forth and back, left and right, until drool still tinged red by blood was catching at the corners of his mouth and dripped down in long translucent threads.
The kizuki made a keening noise, eyes watering when Kyojuro pushed his finger deeper, as far as it would go until it hit the back of his throat. He could see the twitch in Akaza’s jaw, feel the sharpness of his fangs push against his skin, but the pain never came.
