Except he's human, and some weknesses are too great to ignore.

He hadn't thought about Regulus for a long time, although he was always tucked away in the corners of his mind, taking up space in his chapped heart.
That was, until he died. And then there was no running away from Regulus and all the hidden feelings. He saw his little brother for the first time in years, and they fought viciously, because what else are they supposed to do? Talk?

She wants to try keeping chickens, because she thinks it would be wonderful to have fresh eggs and it would be fun to break their necks. She wants Imogen there; she wants Imogen’s boots by the door, Imogen’s loose hairs trod into all the carpets. She wants carpets. She doesn’t want Imogen’s feet to get cold.
But this isn’t that world. Instead they are here, and Imogen is General Temult, and the gods are picked-clean bones, and the only person Laudna loves is on this side of the door, and everyone else is outside.

Summary
Laudna has had thirty-odd years to grapple with her own death and the intricacies that came with it—constantly falling apart, bones jutting out at queer angles, the persistent chill—but now she is alive, suddenly and unequivocally alive. Her bones now encased in softer, pinkened flesh, her fingers remaining attached no matter the sudden movement, and—hells, she’s warm.
It’s odd and frightening how warm she feels after decades of cold.
OR
Diverges after the Otohan battle. Laudna is resurrected as a human and has to grapple with what that means as well as her newly revived body's reactions to Imogen.

Imogen knows that she’s not supposed to, but she can’t make herself stop. She knows this isn’t healthy. This isn’t real. This is playing make-believe and then going back like nothing ever happened. Some nights, Imogen watches Laudna sleep and she feels like she’s breaking inside. And she can almost pretend it’s love, but it still feels too much like lying.
