Garak is a man who excels in making things more complicated than they strictly need to be. Like introducing himself to a pretty boy at lunch: this surely requires 1) a minor personal crisis, 2) urgent espionage while blocking traffic, and 3) space duolingo while hiding behind a ficus. Thankfully, Bashir is a man who exceeds in breaking things down to the very basics: clean lines, a keen mind, and absolute and total obliviousness to spies who may or may not be making a fool of themselves.
Once Garak gets his act together, after all, Bashir can make a fool of himself.

Even now, Garak watches him with a strange, frightening insistence. Overly pointed. “Just making sure you don’t ‘blow our cover,’ as you say.”
“Wont,” Julian mutters before he takes a generous drink. He grimaces at the sour pull, the heat burn going down and settling. “I’m very skilled at keeping a secret when I want to, Elim.”

Takes an AU version of Legacy where everyone survived. Flynn returned to the User world more or less unscathed, as did Sam, Quorra, Clu, Tron, and Rinzler. ENCOM, after some frantic PR, welcomed them back with open arms - with one caveat. Everyone has to attend group therapy in order to make sure that they're still fit to do what they like.
Which, of course, turns out to mean that seven people with wildly different moral systems, priorities, and experiences must sit in the same room for two hours without killing each other, and at the same time believably talk about their feelings without giving the game away to their therapist.
It goes about as well as you'd expect.

James had learnt how to unlace a woman's stays, and how to help put them back on.
The fine material of the cords had snagged on his callouses, but they were after all just delicate ropes, and ropes he knew. The knots came together between his fingers under Miranda's direction and adjusting the tension of the laces running through the eyelets felt surprisingly familiar, the same way he could almost feel in his own body the tension of a ship's rigging.
It was the first time during their affair that James had felt truly in control of the situation at hand.
