Summary
Hopefully they weren’t. Hopefully he could slip in quietly, make his way to the bathroom for a hot shower, and then crawl back onto the makeshift air mattress on Mike Wheeler’s floor, letting sleep take him somewhere else for a change.
Unfortunately for Will, things never went quite the way he planned. He was so close—he’d managed to open and shut the front door without a sound, the only light in the house coming from the stairwell. He took it as his cue, stepping carefully up the stairs, around the corner, and—
“Where have you been?”
Right into Mike.
...
or: will is spiraling, mike is panicking, and yes, making out with a jock somehow seemed like a good idea at the time.

Summary
"Chance bit the inside of his lip. Truthfully, part of him believed Jason’s Hellfire theory was a desperate story fueled by the grief of losing Chrissy, but the more Chance watched Hawkins fall apart, literally, the more he felt his old logic snap into place. Maybe Jason had been right, the town had a wound and something crawled out of it, something that hid in plain sight. Chance didn’t believe in revenge, the Bible says justice belonged to God or the law. But, if there really was an evil in this town, wouldn’t it be just as evil to do nothing about it? To let it happen?"
OR
After losing two of his friends in the Hawkins “earthquake,” Chance joins a church grief group that believes Will Byers is the vessel for Satan. To prove them wrong, Chance agrees to befriend Will, but the closer he gets, the more the lines between faith, fear, obsession and love start to blur.

Summary
Mike runs a hand through his hair. Will’s eyes follow the movement. Mike sighs, and then his eyes lock on Will’s, and he asks, “Do you want to go out West?"
Will stares at him, eyebrows furrowed. Mike stands there like his question makes sense. Will coughs again. “What?” Will snaps his fingers in front of Mike’s nose, making Mike flinch backwards. “Hey, what the fuck? What do you mean, go out West with you?”
Mike shrugs. “Well, everyone’s gone.”Hawkins has been a dark, terrifying place for two years now. Will's family is busy saving the world, and he's stuck at home alone with nothing to do but sit around and wait for something to happen. When Mike shows up at his door asking if he wants to join him on a roadtrip out West, who is Will to say no?
