“How are you feeling?” Wise asks after a beat of silence, noticing how Harumasa’s shoulders tense up ever so slightly. He tries not to frown.
Even now, it’s still hard for Harumasa to be fully transparent about how he’s feeling concerning his illness. He doesn’t want to be viewed as just his illness—and though he knows that Wise would never do such a thing, has proved time and again that he sees there’s so much more to Harumasa than meets the eye, it’s simply a habit born from his own convenience.
He’s not used to being so bare, so vulnerable. The last time Harumasa allowed anyone into his bubble, he was taken advantage of. And though he’s forgiven his master, Wise knows that those kinds of wounds never fully heal.

“Then, stop thinking. Let me,” Wise said, his voice a soft, lilting croon that worked to seduce Asaba into the lull of relaxation. Asaba loved the sound of Wise’s voice, from the tone to the pitch to the soft inflections of the words he used. If anything, his boyfriend was the culmination of everything that he adored in a person—calm, quiet, witty, rational, a little geeky, and of course, unbelievably attractive. Though Asaba would allow the last one to be argued; he was biased, Wise was the definition of beautiful to him.
When Harumasa is feeling stressed, he finds himself calling off of work (properly, this time) and kicking back at Random Play. Only, his definition of stress relief is one that many would not expect.

Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.

“Well then,” Ratio’s voice cuts through the fog that had settled on his mind once again — it makes it so Aventurine can finally breathe, a shaky breath pulling into his lungs. He hopes that Ratio doesn’t notice, but knowing the doctor, he does, “my dear Gambler, what are you going to do now? What’s your plan now that you have been freed from the IPC?”
“I suppose I’ll just have to find my way in the world without them.” He hums to himself, staring up at the deep blue sky that throws lights in his face — not stars, but space stations and the like, visible even with the sun out. “Finding a place to live would probably be a good start, wouldn’t you agree, Doctor?”
Ratio’s eyes furrow. “Do you mean to tell me you don’t have lodgings anymore?”
“I lived in Pier Point, Doctor. Can’t exactly live there anymore if I’m no longer working for them,” Aventurine explains, shrugging his shoulders ever so slightly. He still finds that his voice is too quiet for his usual boisterous self. His words are still slightly shaky — his hands are much the same.
“Live with me.”
