    Both Drift and Ratchet have a lot of emotional baggage. Unfortunately, they're stuck together on the tiniest shuttle that was ever built and there are only so many ways to pass the time. Their sights are set on an outpost where they can upgrade their battered armor, but arriving there in one piece may prove to be difficult.

    Or, more accurately: Drift and Ratchet pass the time with banter, clanging, and unspoken feelings.

    The war is over. The Autobots, Decepticons, and Nyans are in what's left if Iacon trying to hash out what peace looks like in a post-Senate world.

    Rodimus Prime may lead the city of Nyon, but he has little interest in playing politics with old mechs; when he gets into an accident with Drift, a representative from the Crystal City, he finds a different diversion.

    Drift doesn't know who is in the wake of the War - but he knows he's a little in love with the racer he met in the Tower, and the medic who put him back together when they crashed during a street race.

    Ratchet is glad the war is over, but he's served the Senate and the Primes for so long that he's not sure what to do when there's no Senate left to serve. Still, taking care of the two idiots who stumbled into his medbay is better than waiting for a new purpose.

    Soft Memory Errors

    Soft Memory Errors is a re-examination of MTMTE Drift/Deadlock's character, in an attempt to fully utilize a character built from interesting concepts with patchy (or non-existent) execution. What started as a one-off drabble turned into this series when the 2020 quarantine left me with a lot more time on my hands than I anticipated. The series title is a reference to the computing glitch soft memory error, as the series has a recurring theme of fragmenting memories and the residual processor damage Drift sustained.
