Hijikata replied with a grunt; their flesh clung together. Gintoki couldn't convince himself to let go, even with the humid air in the room. His head pressed against Hijikata's chest; he could hear the soothing beat of his heart. The arms wrapped around his waist gave him a sense of security and comfort that nothing else could provide. He buried his face even further, pressing his skin tighter against the man's. He was still asleep, so it was alright; he could stay in his arms longer.

It’s not a jail cell. Hell, it’s not even an interrogation room. Not that Gintoki thinks they’ll actually, seriously throw him in either of those anytime soon, but anyway what kind of setup is this? Why does it feel oddly familiar? Why are the gorilla, the sadist, and Hijikata all sitting on one side of the chabudai—and why is Jimmy going over there to join them?! Now it’s four against one! The odds are stacked against him even before they’ve begun whatever it is that they’re about to begin!
Or: the Shinsengumi collectively give Gintoki their blessing to date their vice chief in typical Gintama fashion, and Gintoki learns the hard way that dating someone means also dating their whole damn family.
