Queen Celestia, a Goddess in Her own right, had long ago killed off the jealous Moon that enslaved Her land. Now, She reigns supreme once more.
The elements of harmony, worshipped by some who rebel, are a sacrilegious concept. They go against Her Majesty and Her power. They imply She could not have saved them alone.
Twilight Sparkle grew to resent these elements as well as all who were not of her status or above, but being forced to tread among the common doesn't appear TOO bad. That is, of course, until the realization sets in that the Elements are intertwined in these ponies and Twilight has to deal with their demonic presence for a few more days before she may smite them and earn the approval of Her Majesty Celestia.
