Blood.
That’s the first thing that hits Rei when he steps through the door. The intense smell of blood- horribly familiar, and yet out of place. He’s never killed a soul in his apartment. The coppery scent of fresh blood shouldn’t be filling the air.
And yet, it’s not the blood that draws his attention the most.
Feathered wings unfurl in front of him. A pure untainted white, if not for the one wing clawed an ugly red.
And one Akai Shuuichi looks up at him with a tired smile.
The supernatural has never been Rei's area of expertise. He can't say he's fond of Akai dragging him into it.

Summary
London, 1888.
Consumption and murder dye the city streets red with blood. Furuya Rei, aspiring physician, has undertaken the arduous journey halfway across the globe to learn from the doctors of the British Medical Association. (And to reconnect with his childhood friend, one Miyano Akemi.)
