It settled deep inside his bones, so deep that not even the fires he lit each night could drive away the shudders. Traveling across the thin ice was as facing his own death with every step. He had been turned around and around by the thick snow, wandering endlessly with Mjolnir clutched in his frozen fingers.

Derek flies off the handle at Stiles after Scott's betrayal, only to realize that Stiles is both injured and looking to check on how he is doing. They don't have a chance to reconcile as they are both captured by hunters working under Gerard. They turn the alpha feral in order to get him to kill Stiles but something different happens instead, leaving the two boys to work out their feelings and issues while recovering from the encounter and trying to rebuild the Hale pack.
