Summary
A small transgression has been made against the Lan sect, and Wei Wuxian in particular, though the person who did it couldn't have known. The juniors, however, take it very seriously. Wei Wuxian doesn't understand how seriously, or how much his tendency to adopt juniors from various sects at every opportunity has affected said juniors.

Just as Jin Zixuan’s about to clip the lead onto his dog, and Wei Wuxian is cautiously coming closer, Jiang Cheng leans toward his brother in law. “Is there some way you can tie her loosely so he freaks out when he gets close?” he asks.
Jin Zixuan laughs. “I can do you one better. Hey sweetheart, see the man over there, he wants a high-five. Go give him a high-five darling.” With a woof of approval, Lil’ White shoots out from under the table as fast as she can.
Wei Wuxian screams.

He pulled the door open smoothly, leaving the noisemaker with their fist still raised mid-knock. He could glimpse white robes underneath a thick and practical-looking travel cloak, but surely no member of his sect would think to barge in upon him in such a way.
“Hello!” the interloper exclaimed, a bright smile coming into view as he lifted the sopping veils away to one side. “Would you happen to know how to reach the Cloud Recesses?”
Or, a teenage Wei Wuxian arrives at the Lan sect as a (mostly) respected disciple of the Immortal Baoshan Sanren instead of the well-known troublemaker of Yunmeng Jiang. Lan Wangji learns to come to terms with this (eventually).
