Summary
A hand darts out to grip Diluc’s flailing arm, keeping him from keeling over. Diluc almost jerks himself away, which would most definitely have resulted in him eating cobblestone, before he registers the sound of a familiar voice. “You idiot,” it says. “Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
Diluc grimaces and looks to his left, where Kaeya has materialized out of thin air. “Where the hell did you come from?”
Kaeya gingerly helps Diluc maneuver himself into a sitting position against the wall. “Don’t you think it’s perfect weather for a walk?” the Cavalry Captain says.
Diluc manifests a bottle of antiseptic and a roll of bandages from his Vision’s subspace as he shoots Kaeya a skeptical look. “It’s an hour past midnight. You take walks at this time of day?”
Diluc gets stabbed on Darknight Hero duty. But have no fear, Kaeya is there to help!
Bickering ensues. What else are siblings for?

Kaeya shakes his head miserably. “I’m going to hurt you,” he repeats in a whisper. “Because of what I am.”
Diluc looks at his brother critically. There are many things he could say right now, like, What exactly are you? or, I think that’s still kind of offensive.
He decides on asking, “Do you want to hurt me?”
The response is immediate. Kaeya’s face becomes horrified, and, forcefully, he says, “No!”
Diluc has a very silly brother. “Well, then, I don’t care what you are, ‘Yaya,” Diluc tells him matter-of-factly. He pauses. That isn’t quite right. “Well, I mean, I do, but you’re my brother, first and foremost, now and always and forever.”
There are some truths that never change.

He’d had exactly one conversation with Faruzan previously, after she’d given Kaveh a two-hour lecture in response to his invitation to change Darshans. Kaveh had never admitted it but Alhaitham was pretty sure she’d actually made the fool cry—a goal Alhaitham had been pursuing for years. After a night spent consoling his roommate (which Kaveh hadn’t appreciated at all), Alhaitham had set out the next morning to do what Kaveh had failed at.
Unfortunately, he’d attempted to debate her with a hangover. Even more unfortunately, Kaveh had come along to see the tail end of the fiasco, and that night, he’d had to deal with Kaveh’s smug ‘consolation’ all evening.
After their ‘chat,’ having demolished all his points, she’d pressed a hard candy into his hand and flitted off to accost some freshmen. He still had the candy on his dresser in his pocket change dish, to remind him of his past mistakes.
And now here she was, advancing on him with a big smile and a funding request...

Summary
Diluc’s jaw clenches and unclenches and when he meets Kaeya’s eye he’s all fiery determination. “Are you well?” He asks, only the vaguest hesitation cobwebbing the beginning of his speech before he clears through the stiff and the old and his voice rasps out, clearly and concerned. It reminds Kaeya eerily of the Dark Knight Hero's particular brand of awkwardness. Yet Diluc could never be anyone but himself, Kaeya supposes that is truly where their rift stems from, those fundamental differences, and yet here he is asking after Kaeya’s well-being like their years separated are nothing more than a snatch of time and not something that ate and corroded at them.
“Yes.” Kaeya breathes, smiling, a real smile this time. “I can take care of myself, you know, you didn’t need to step in.”
“I did,” Diluc argues.
Or
In which Kaeya is a bit ooc because doesn’t know Diluc is the Dark Knight Hero and they somehow rekindle their brotherly bond one attempted murder at a time.
