Red-brown fabric sat in a crumpled heap at the bottom of a chest, remnants of it’s dye to its side, coagulated in a rust colored lump. Tiny red handprints lined the inside of the wood, otherwise empty save this one… article of clothing? Maybe?
Tommy stared, nose wrinkled against the smell of mildew and mild decay, just trying to make sense of what he was looking at.

Summary
Everyday, it seemed her son came home bruised, battered and burned. Everyday, she was left feeling guiltier and guiltier as she began to distance herself from her son she could not save.
She left, leaving Izuku Midoriya alone and bitter to face the world that would be forever cruel and vicious.
It was how he discovered his quirk as his mother left careful instructions on how the bills were paid automatically, how to access the money his father sent, how to cook and clean. So at least he did not have to leave his home too.
He learned how build up the facade and pretend everything was fine. It led him to discover his quirk — the ability to create detailed illusions of someone he knew well.
It all fell apart when Aizawa and All Might came to ask permission for him to live at the dorms. It was just his luck they noticed something was not quite right.
