    “I love you, too. So fucking much,” Steve answered. His voice sounded cracked and exhausted, an exposed nerve ending in the shape of a man. “Some days I still don’t believe you’re real. Feels— feels like somehow, I’ve always loved you. Even when I didn’t know you.”

    Bucky smiled softly at that and felt his heart threaten to explode. Still straddling his lap, he reached a hand up to cup Steve’s cheek.

    “You’ve always known me,” he stated, simply. “I was made for you, remember?”

A chance meeting with a brick wall of a guy named Steve in the formula aisle of the grocery store leads to a friendship it seems like both of them need. If only Bucky could remember that's all they are- friends. If only Steve didn't slot into their lives so perfectly and look so good spoiling Bucky's daughter (and Bucky, despite his protests).

    Oh, if only Steve didn't turn out to be Captain America.

But Bucky has secrets of his own, quite a few of them; some out of fear, and some because there are things precious to him that he wants to keep safe. But they've always been at their best when standing side by side. As they come face to face with even more changes and challenges, they’ll have to have faith in both each other and themselves, and believe that the roots they have laid down are steady and strong. If they can do that, and after long last admit their own truths, only then will the garden of their lives have the chance to bloom.
    That’s if, and only if, they can overcome the first secret Bucky has kept. Because Bucky has finally remembered everything Steve once was to him. And if Steve can survive it, his life will never be the same.

    Bucky Barnes has finally come home.

    A year and a half after the events on the helicarriers, desperate for a safe haven and a chance to finally rest, Bucky takes Steve at his word and returns to the dilapidated row house in Brooklyn where he and Steve once lived.

    Room by room, he slowly starts to fix up the house as he works on his own recovery, while Steve starts to circle closer and closer. It's not easy; it was never going to be easy, and as Steve and Bucky draw even closer to each other in their dance, there are new steps to learn and old wounds to heal.

    But nothing has ever been able to stop these two boys from Brooklyn, and as they start to share food, trips to Home Depot, late night runs and eventually laughter, it turns out that Bucky isn't the only one who needs help healing.

    That's only if Steve can get Bucky to believe in himself and the life they have started to build together, and convince Bucky to stay.
