Summary
When Remus Lupin arrives at Hogwarts in the autumn of 1993, Severus is determined to hate him. Unfortunately for him, keeping an eye on the werewolf might help to stop that blasted Potter boy from getting into trouble, so it seems like he'll just have to live with it. When, over time, Severus finds himself softening towards his old schoolmate, he struggles to convince himself it's all for the greater good.
NB: I haven't quite abandoned this work—I just can't in good conscience contribute to a literary corpus that honours a writer who is actively malicious towards members of a marginalised community. It's completely ruined the experience for me. I might be back if she dies, though.
