“Yeah, sorry, I guess?” JJ tries and John B snorts at him. “Well, you picked me off the ground and once you realized I really couldn’t walk straight, you kinda put your arm around me? You helped me inside, kept asking what happened. I couldn’t even answer ‘cause the only thing running through my head was ‘I didn’t know, I didn’t know.’”
John B stops moving. “Know what?”

Spending days on end out on the ocean with his best friend John B. and his old man, the boys sun-kissed and freckled to match. However, things aren't always as they seem from the outside. Sometimes the brightest shining, goofiest kids come from the darkest of places. Just throw in a stray dog, a childhood rival, and a little timeless mystery into the mix for some added flavor.

The group was together again. JJ should have felt deliriously happy. Yet still, as they all drank and played around with each other, this feeling of dread started to set into him, this fear that everything would be ripped away from them again.
JJ has a panic attack, though he's not fully aware that that's what's happening. John B tries to help him through it.

Briefly, Carlos wonders whether this is what real, unconditional forgiveness feels like. Forgiveness where there’s no lingering bitterness or itchy, spiteful irritation, just a calm acceptance and feeling of ease. Then again, he wonders whether this kind of forgiveness is a little more complicated, interwoven with an understanding of their miscommunication, and realising that, at the end of the day, perhaps he also needs to be forgiven for mistakes he didn’t even know he’d made.
