Kris was done. They weren't going to tolerate the interdimensional invader in their ribcage any longer. And if they had to open a fountain to get rid of it, they were going to.
Or at least, they were. Until that invader offered something new: the chance to remember between resets. To make their own decisions with nothing more than some minor advice and a helping hand if requested. Naturally, Kris was interested. And that's why they woke up on Thursday morning, remembering two days that technically hadn't happened yet.
Messing with the code can be delicate work. Do the wrong thing at the wrong time, and the bridge might just break. Or change fundamentally.
It's a good thing nothing like that could happen, right?

Nico looked, and the visions hit him all at once.
One thousand different moments. Laughter, playful yelling, shouting, absolute chaos. The sound of sweet compliments and sultry whispers and bold declarations. The sight of that smile, Will’s smile, over and over, and then the feeling of his skin against Nico’s, the warmth of his breath, the touch of his fingers, the familiarity of it. The reassurance of his hand on Nico’s shoulder and the comfort of his hugs.
There was more, too. A sense of pride and accomplishment, the sound of cheering, the flickering sight of graduation caps and polaroids and love notes and rings and birthday presents and brief pecks and clothes abandoned on the floor. It was beautiful, every bit of it. It made Nico want to cry with how badly he wanted to feel it.
The visions faded, and Eros looked at Nico with a level of pity.
“I am sorry,” he said.
