“What’s a demon like you doing in an alley like this?”
Vox was across the length of the alley in a flash, his atoms scrambling themselves in his haste to get away. He rematieralised from his electric form to flatten his back against the grimy wall, claws digging into divots between brickwork. His eyes blew wide, the light of his screen casting a dim glow along the length of the alley as he swung his head back and forth, looking for the source of that—that voice.
A voice like a door inching open on a stray wind. A voice like a branch brushing against a tombstone. A voice like a floorboard creaking in the dead of night.
But no one was there.

A re-imagining of Vox and Alastor's first meeting in Hell that asks the question, 'what would their relationship look like if it was one-sided on Alastor's half?' The answer: not good for Vox.

Alastor huffed, leaning forward, voice rising with that familiar theatrically sharp edge. “Do you think I am amused? That this this deliberate avoidance would go unnoticed? That your petty games, your careful withdrawal, would not rattle me, gnaw at my patience?!” He gestured wildly, as though the air itself had been complicit in Vox’s crimes. “I am not accustomed to being ignored! Not by anyone! Certainly not by you!”
A pause. Vox leaned forward, elbows resting on his desk now, fingers tapping in silent rhythm. And then words. Complete sentences. Complete thoughts.
“I’ve lost myself in you for too long,” Vox said, and Alastor’s breath caught slightly at the weight behind the voice. “I’ve missed out on so many friendships, so much love. I don’t blame you. I did it to myself, really falling for the Radio Demon’s trap. You’re an enigma. It’s not your fault. It’s your nature.”
The words landed like blunt instruments against Alastor’s carefully constructed armour. He froze, cane halfway lifted, mouth opening and closing like a puppet caught mid performance.

Summary
This collection contains the novel length stories that belong to my Triple Threat Series. (For the connected short stories, see here: https://archiveofourown.org/series/1359283)
The Triple Threat Series is sort of a friendship epic about Sonic, Knuckles and Tails. The friendship between the main characters is the large overarching theme here. The novel length entries are more adventure and action driven and play with concepts like Chaos Control stuff, while most of the shorties make lighter, quick reads.
In spite of the name, it’s not strictly a series in the sense of starting with story one and the rest being sequels. It’s a lot looser than that, especially for the earlier installments. All TTS stories have in common that they’re set in the same universe and resolve around the trio of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. TTS’ timeline fits loosely after Sonic Adventure 1/2/Sonic Heroes, think a year or so after them, but you're usually free to assume most of the events of games that came out before the story was published happened.
