    Summary

    Tighnari rubs his temples. “Kaveh, let me get this straight—”

    “No.”

    “—you found an entire research paper on yourself, meticulously detailed to the point of insanity—”

    “It was deranged,” Kaveh mutters, because he can’t stop thinking about it.

    “—and instead of taking it as an obvious sign of obsessive, ridiculous, incomprehensible love, you screamed at him and then ran away.”

    Kaveh slams his drink down. “OH, I’M SORRY, WAS I SUPPOSED TO KISS HIM?”

    Or, the fine line between academic debate and love confessions, and how Kaveh and Alhaitham are failing to recognize it.

    Summary

    Rejection is the worst when it comes to an omega in love. There’s so much that could’ve been, but running away seems easier. After five years of running away to Fontaine, Kaveh is back in Sumeru city for a job. He doesn’t come alone, but with a child. A storm from Fontaine comes to claim its omega and child. Home has always been Alhaitham’s place that remains as shelter from the storm.

    Summary

    "Let me get this straight. You want Kaveh, a man known for being about as subtle as a stampede of sumpter beasts -"

    "Hey! Come on! I'm right here, you know!"

    "--to act as your spy? For the good of the nation?" Alhaitham snorted. "Kaveh can't even remember his keys, Cyno. And you're expecting him to engage in advanced statecraft?"

    "Ok, rude."

    When a certain ginger-haired Snezhnayan buys a slice of barren desert property in Sumeru, it's up to Kaveh to figure out whether this strange foreigner is actually the Eleventh Fatui Harbinger, and more importantly, what he's plotting out there in the middle of no man's land. Kaveh can do this. Probably.

    But it would sure be a lot easier if Alhaitham hadn't invited himself along as the world's most distracting fake husband.

    Summary

    Alhaitham doesn't hear Kaveh talking about his mother a lot, and, when one day Kaveh receives a letter from Fontaine, he almost wishes that this accepted order of things would stay the same. Because now he's facing several issues:
    1. Kaveh’s mother wanted to visit Sumeru City;
    2. She would be staying in his house;
    3. He would have to pose as Kaveh's boyfriend for the entirety of her stay?!

    Meant there was something to the method Kaveh was using today, when he needed to spill a bunch of information his body likely resisted giving. Alhaitham chugged down his wine, and, before the burning sensation in his body could disappear, produced:

    “Yes. Sticking with plan A.”

    Now it was Kaveh’s turn to question his sanity. Alhaitham would have been satisfied by that look on his face had he not been actively processing what he just signed up for.

    Summary

    Still left with the lingering fear Kaveh’s four-month disappearance had instilled in him, Alhaitham insists on accompanying Kaveh to the desert.

    As long as Alhaitham is there, he can keep Kaveh safe.

    It isn’t until Kaveh is bleeding out in his arms that he’s hit with the terrifying notion that he might be losing Kaveh again— for good this time.
