So, let's assume that the Ice crown did stopped working, instead it malfunctioned. Let's say that most of the madness stayed in Candy Queen, but obsession came back to him and mixed with his narcissism. So now he wants to keep Simon in his world. It won't end bad, they just need Simon to wear the crown and have powers, right? He himself doesn't need to be with them.
