Became popular. But none of it was real. His smile. His dumbed-down personality. Even his hair. All fake. Because Finney was smart—*very* smart—but Steve Harrington wasn’t supposed to be. Steve Harrington was just a mask. It was survival. Because the world is cruel—especially to people like Finney Blake. So maybe Steve Harrington killed Finney Blake. Or maybe the Grabber did. Things haven't been easy after Vance escaped from The Grabber's basement. Far from it. He wasn't the same as he used to be and everyone in North Denver knew it. His anger was white-hot and sparking but died just as quickly as it would spring up. It only got worse when people wouldn't leave him alone and eventually his father got tired of dealing with him. That and he had put four college boys in the ICU. A call was given to an uncle Vance had never met and a few hours later he was on a plane to Hawkins, Indiana.
Where he could have had the space and time that he needed to come back to himself. Could have had the family and love that he needed. But that wasn't he got.

Summary
what if finney has been with the grabber for two years before any of the other boys were kidnapped? when griffin is first brought down, he’s absolutely terrified. finney lacks emotion, going with the punches and the sexual assault with a sort of breeze, clearly showing just how traumatized he really is. then when billy, vance, bruce and robin are brought down, they notice too and are very concerned. finney never fights back and never hesitates to go upstairs when the grabber tells him to. it’s up to the five other boys to rescue the traumatized 14 year old.
