So, these days when John baits him, it’s mostly knowing that Buck would never give in. It’s fascinating to watch each time it happens though and John can’t get enough of it. The way his tempting words slide right off Buck where with everyone else, they would have sunk their hooks in. The immediate, careless, tempered, “No,” that crawls out of Buck’s throat in that raspy drawl.
Perhaps, John hadn’t been told ‘no’ enough in his life and he’s catching up with it now, collecting each one from Buck’s lips to make up for the hundred times that no one was there to tell him as much in his youth. It drives him crazy that no matter how outrageous or how tame the suggestion is, the answer from Buck would always be no. So he keeps asking.

ADDITIONALLY after the events of the first part, Marge invites Gale to go to a party as moral support for her first girl crush. Things don't exactly go to plan - especially once Bucky starts flirting with said girl.

This isn’t about the sex. This isn’t about whatever sort of camaraderie had struck up between the spitting of barbs. This was about Gale and his job and his duty to his parish. He’d offer to anyone in need. He just usually wouldn’t be fresh from their bed whilst doing so.
John’s face does something incredibly odd, skin creasing and pressing together in rapid vulnerability before smoothing out in a syrupy grin. His lips seem to move with extra slowness, savoring over the tease.
“Think you’ll be able to stand spending that long alone in a car with me, Father?”
“I wrestle with the forces of darkness every day, I can handle an enclosed space with your mouth.”
John laughs, and it almost doesn’t sound forced, “You’re serious.”
Gale frowns at him.
John’s face does that same odd thing and he looks down quickly, fingers once again hockeying themselves over the broken screen, “Yeah, okay. Lemme just call her again –”
