Summary
Pearl's life is structured. Controlled. She teaches ballet to kids who still have the dreams she lost when she was at the height of her career. She lives with Amethyst and Garnet in a slightly too-small apartment where game night rules are sacred and feelings are discussed over burnt popcorn. She doesn't date. Her closest relationships are with her roommates. She doesn't trust that wanting something won't end with it being taken away.
Then Amethyst hires Rose.
Rose, an escort with pink curls and hands that know exactly where to touch, who shows up for Pearl's birthday like a gift wrapped in confidence and warmth. It's supposed to be one night. Professional. Transactional. Except Rose kisses like she means it, and Pearl can't stop thinking about her even while she's right there.
(This is terrifying. This is falling. This is love and I don't know how to do this without ruining it.)
The slow burn of navigating a relationship when both people have to realize that the person who loves them still does even after dropping their facades.

The tapping of Ford’s foot comes to a stop.
It feels like the rest of the world should stop, too, then. He even sits there, perfectly still and with bated breath, giving Gravity Falls a picture-perfect opportunity to unshackle any of its regular irregularity. Any moment now, some supernatural being could intercept their call, or the laws of physics would be inexplicably broken, or maybe some gargantuan, never before seen beast would just barge through the cabin wall in a homicidal rampage, and Ford would welcome it all with open arms.
But the clock keeps ticking, the crickets keep chirping, and the world keeps spinning. It’s only him and his heart that’d stopped.
(Or: Fiddleford chose Ford to be the best man at his wedding. Neither one of them are particularly happy to be there.)

His thumb came down to brush the mole over Will's top lip. The touch felt soft, strangely reverent. "My— moles?"
