Look, Jaskier's got a lot going on. He's painfully aware that there are cataclysmic events happening and that the troubled teenager he knows might save the world or speed along the end of days. He's also in love with a man who's never even admitted that they're friends, which is almost as bad.
Oh, and he's still working as the Sandpiper, only now a terrifying eldritch creature has entrusted him with the Song of the Seven to give hope to the elves and help them fight back against their oppression. It's probably the bravest thing he's ever done, but not everyone sees it that way.
Luckily he knows some people who excel at last minute rescues.
... then he just has to figure out how to tell Geralt why so many people are trying to kill him. This is going to go great.

Summary
Jaskier is no stranger to a broken heart, has always loved easily and freely, holding his heart out and getting it back worse for wear. Usually it suffices to spend a day drinking, penning a song or two, and by the time he’s working on melodies, deciding which are worth scoring, singing at the next inn, his heart is mostly healed again.
It doesn’t feel like his heart will ever heal again, this time.
After Geralt breaks Jaskier's heart on the Dragon Mountain, Jaskier attempts to put the pieces back together. A (possible) sequence of missing scenes between s01e06 and s02e04.

Summary
Eventually Jaskier settles down on the bed. When he’s been silent for several long moments Geralt cracks open an eye. The light from the fire in the hearth is more than enough to see by for his enhanced eyesight. Jaskier is curled up on the bed, back to the wall and limbs gathered up to his chest. It’s a childlike pose that strikes a dissonant chord in Geralt’s chest. He remembers spending nights with Jaskier in other inns, in camps on the roadside, and Jaskier sprawls when he sleeps. Limbs flung out in every direction, sometimes close enough to grasp for Geralt’s warmth.

When Geralt carries Jaskier out of the cellar beneath the cottage on the outskirts of the abandoned town he thinks, this is as bad as it will get.

Ciri’s looking up at him, doing the wide pleading eyes that he is irritatingly susceptible to. “Can I?” she says. “Please, Geralt?”
A witcher hiding from the world meets a man hiding from himself. It works out well for both of them, eventually.

Geralt opens his mouth, and for a second, Jaskier thinks he is going to say some big words. The big words.
“I’m going to miss you,” he settles on.
The snow is melting, but Geralt fusses, tightening Jaskier’s coat over and over again, to the point that his hands have to be batted away. The warmth that spreads to Jaskier’s fingertips almost feels like love. For a moment, he thinks that alone can replace all the emptiness in his chest.
Or,
Jaskier leaves, so he can one day return. At the same time, Geralt learns to do better.

"Let's go to Kaer Morhen for the winter," Jaskier mocks breathlessly. "It won't be as exciting as last year. We'll rest and recuperate, you said. A moment of peace, you said." Passed out against Jaskier's shoulder, Geralt does not answer. "We could have portaled in. Yennefer and Ciri are portaling to Kaer Morhen in a few weeks time but no. Geralt, oh Geralt hates portals! So we're going to walk up the fucking mountain during a fucking snowstorm."
Jaskier drags an unconscious Geralt up the mountain towards Kaer Morhen, cursing all the while. It takes a few days, some stitches and a fever (and stealing some of Lambert's ale) but eventually they do get a few moments of peace.

He ends up playing the reluctant nursemaid to a stranger who can't stay awake for long enough to tell him his name or the reason he isn't afraid of witchers.
