Alex Rider has a maths quiz at nine, a football match at four, and a former assassin making him dinner in the meantime. It’s not exactly normal. But it’s close.
After escaping the absolute disaster that was MI6, SCORPIA, and one extremely traumatic tropical holiday, Alex has carved out a new life in Geneva with Yassen Gregorovich - his one-time would-be murderer, now part-time soccer mum. Alex has friends, a school ID that probably won’t flag him on a government watchlist, and a near-complete immunity to green vegetables. Yassen, meanwhile, is learning the joys of kale, folding chairs, and passive-aggressive parent-teacher nights.
But paranoia is a hard habit to break - and when a stranger from Yassen's past shows up, everything starts to crack. Because Yassen is acting jumpy. Alex is having flashbacks. And someone has just installed a surveillance camera above their door.
Which is never a good sign.
Now Alex has to figure out whether this is a false alarm or the beginning of something worse. Like, say, a return to international espionage. Or emotional vulnerability.
Possibly both.
