But Ardent—Ardent was something else. A soldier too, but one who read all the manuals and did all the tutorials and got all the upgrades and then learned how to hack into the source code to figure out all the enemy NPCs health values and damage vulnerabilities. It made Arthur look like he was jiggling his power cable to lag-switch and failing.
It couldn't have been more then twenty seconds before Arthur hit the ground, hard enough that Amir winced before he remembered their techrot infused bodies shrugged that damage off like it was nothing now.
Ardent just stood there, boot to Arthur's chest. Round two to player one.
“Hot stuff, innit.”

Summary
Working - and then living - with each other had not always meant that Arthur and the Drifter actually had reliable time to spend together, especially with as chaotic as things in Höllvania could often get. The Drifter also didn't want to admit to anyone (especially themself) how much that was starting to bother them for reasons beyond just wanting sex again. Luckily, they finally got the chance for some proper time with the man they were dating, and the two of them take full advantage of it to at least alleviate the easier of the two problems.

Summary
It didn't take long into your relationship with Arthur, even before you started dating, for you to figure out that he was a hypocrite. No matter how much he looked out for everyone and preached they take care of themselves, listening to his own advice was a whole different story. The man would get so wrapped up in his role of 'Leader' taking a break seemed like the last thing on his mind, no matter how physically or mentally fatigued he was. Everyone could see it, but getting it through his thick skull was another matter.
You were determined to find a solution, no matter how long it took. Coping strategies aren't something that fit all the same and with the amount there was it was going to take time, but it did not matter to you in the slightest. Finally getting to see Arthur change for the better would make anything worth it, Sol damn it.

The urge to relax quickly evaporated as he caught a glance of the mannequin next to the sitting area. It had been there when his partner had arrived for the first time to the mall, ‘tagged’ by a duplicate set of his shades. Neither had bothered to move it, even as Amir moved into the backrooms with them.
But, evidently, his partner had done some redecorating.
Even from where he sat, he could spot the vibrant orange collar that now rested on the mannequin’s neck, complete with a short, thick leash, the loop of which rested in its odd plasticine hand.
