"I haven't seen him smile like that in years and ever since he's starting going out with him that smile hasn't left his face. He's happy and after everything he has been through I can't be the one to ruin that for him. I can't hurt him again, I can't loose him again."

"It's best if I just let him go. I can stay in his life as his best friend and that is what's important to me. As long as Will is happy, I can try to be happy, even if it hurts to see him with someone when I know I can treat him better."

Summary
By the time they are ready for bed, Will lies down and it's the first time since this morning that he thinks about the date. For the first time since he was taken in 1983, he hasn't spent the entire day of November 6th scared and reliving terrible memories. Instead he's realizing that he has felt the most safe he has in years, spending the whole day with the boy that he loves.
OR
It's almost November 6th and it's the first year that Will is away from family on the anniversary of everything that happened to him. Just because he's without his family in New York, that doesn't mean he is alone. Mike is right there to keep him safe and show him how loved he is.
