Gem has lived in a lab her whole life, her blood a cure for the Pokik disease. Having been rescued she must now learn how to live properly, starting with the basics. Basics like 2+3 and how to read. Turns our scientists who think you'll live in their control till you die don't think you need to actually know anything.
Besides, she’s never seen anyone younger than the scientists, let alone someone her age.

Summary
What happens when tons of volcanoes go off at once?
Enough ash to plunge the earth into a kind of nuclear winter for years or longer.
It's in this forever winter that Gem gets sick, sick enough to be life threatening in those conditions.
Problem is, the gang don't have the medicine to keep her healthy.
The only way they can save her is the city, days or weeks away through harsh winter.

Summary
Grian really hated this job. If he could have left it behind, he would have, but since he helped create these blasted permits, he was stuck enforcing their arbitrary rules. As Grian was sitting, his mind wandered and he wondered if there's something he should know.
He honestly felt as if he was missing something about himself, something that could explain why he always longs to be free, the wings stuck to his back, his lack of memory of anything before this blasted world… There must be something else out there, right? Grian’s friends all talked about the past worlds… but he couldn’t remember any of them, which concerned X.Grian works at the Permit Office, no memory of how he ended up there. Gem was captured by the Watchers, and longs to go home. They both hate their lives, but little do they know, they’re each the answer to the other’s problems.

Summary
Milk. Eggs. Chicken. Various fruits and vegetables. That energy drink brand that Impulse and Tango really liked. Cheese. Tortillas. Way too many condiments.
It was so normal. Nothing in the fridge indicated anything out of the ordinary. Gem didn't really know what an abnormal fridge or its contents would look like. Maybe blood or test tubes or a severed head or something.
She sighed, reaching for the milk. There was one foolproof method to calming herself down, one that she had used fairly often back when she was a hero and her sleep schedule was all over the place.
She moved automatically, muscle memory kicking in as she recovered a mug from the cabinet and poured a decent amount of milk in it. Then a tablespoon of sugar, a tablespoon of cocoa powder, then microwaved it for a minute, not enough for it to be boiling but enough for it to be hot. Then a drop of vanilla, a few chocolate chips, and then a dollop of whipped cream left over from sundae night a few evenings earlier.
The perfect hot chocolate.

Summary
There were many bands in the music scene of Hermitcraft city. The most popular ones are team B.E.S.T, the Bad Boys and Gem and the Scotts.
Team B.E.S.T consisted of their singer, Bdubs, their bassist, Etho, the drummer, Skizz and the electric guitarist, Tango.
The Bad Boys was made up of three half brothers. Jimmy was their singer and bassist. Grian was the electric guitarist. Joel was the drummer.
Gem and the Scotts was named because of the names of its members. Gem was their pianist, Scott was their singer and Impulse was their drummer.
