Summary
Started as 30,000 words of smut with a sprinkling of plot that has now turned into a full on plot heavy story. Don't worry, the spicy stuff will still be there. Set after Tristamp with some manga inspiration. Basically wanted a scenario where Vash and Meryl get to travel around together alone for a while. Probably minimal editing. Just...a...lot...of...smut...ok.
`Her hand seemed to move without her permission and she curled slim fingers over his right. It suddenly felt like her heart was in her throat. "You can smile for yourself too."
Those words struck something deep inside him, and it took him longer than it should have to be able to speak around the lump that had suddenly lodged itself in his throat. Her gentle touch helped a little, at least as a distraction, and he focused on the warmth of her hand, how small and petite she was compared to him. Slowly, gently he turned his hand over, almost mesmerized by the simple feeling of happiness this tiny bit of closeness gave him.
"I think..." He had to stop just to clear his throat again, for what felt like the hundredth time in the last ten minutes. "Maybe smiling for people I care about is me smiling for myself."` -
