Tamacti Jun insists Maghra make a choice.
[Follow up to my story "Ashes". Major spoilers for the series. Set about a year after the end of season 3.]~Over time, his concern for her, as a daughter of the king, had evolved into respect for a ruler struggling to do the right thing, and finally, as admiration for the woman who faced tragedy with fortitude. It had not taken long for them to rebuild the trust previously damaged by her sister’s deceit. He had been content with that. Until she made the offer—or perhaps it had been an order—more explicit.
“I don’t want to be alone,” she had said, during the first winter after her husband had died.
That which is frozen feels no pain, but something in him had begun to thaw during that bitterly cold season, and the memory of all he lost grew sharper with each warm encounter.~

Summary
Tamacti Jun visits Baba Voss in the Pennsa prison
[Set during S3, between eps 2 and 3.]~“I wasn't expecting to meet you like this…again,” Tamacti said, remembering how their first real introduction had occurred through the steel bars of a Trivantian dungeon.
“My wife is angry,” Baba explained.
The queen had ordered her own husband to be imprisoned after his assault on the Trivantian delegation. Luckily for everyone, Baba had gone willingly—no casualties had been reported. When questioned about it, Maghra would only say it was for his protection.
“Maybe she's afraid…of losing you once more?” he proposed.
“Mmn,” Baba grunted. “Or maybe she wishes I had not come back.”~

Summary
Harlan asks a favor from Tamacti Jun.
[Set during S3, between eps 3 and 4.]~His musing was interrupted by the sound of footsteps in the hallway, followed by Tamacti’s signature snarling outside the door.
“It smells like the Lavender Road! What’s Harlan doing here?”
The Lord of Pennsa grinned, having purposely worn a generous amount of what he hoped would be his most offensive cologne.
“Ah!” Harlan exclaimed, sweeping back through the doorway. “I’d recognize that delightful death-rattle anywhere!”~

Summary
In the aftermath of the battle of Pennsa, Queen Maghra seeks answers from Tamacti Jun.
[Set at the end of S3 ep 8. Major spoilers for the end of the series!]~Whatever happened after the day she left him for dead had made the years in his voice more apparent, but Tamacti Jun still offered what he always did—something solid to stand by in times of turmoil. Inviting anyone to partake in the ritual of her grief felt strange, but she had done it all the same, prying him out of the palace early in the morning, before some military necessity claimed him.~

[Set during S2 ep 7.]~“I offer my service, General,” she said, putting a hand on his knee.
“You are already in my service,” he said coldly.
The hand slid along his leg. “As a woman,” she clarified unnecessarily.
He grabbed her arm tight enough to bruise. “I don't recall asking for that.”
“I hear it in the words you do not say,” she said confidently.~

Summary
A bit of stand-alone Baba/Tamacti smut.
[Set during S2 ep 4.]~“Thanks to you, I haven’t fucked my wife in months,” Baba growled.
Tamacti was not sure why this personal problem had suddenly become his concern. “May I suggest,” he panted, trying to block the efforts to subdue him, “you go fuck yourself?”
“I would rather fuck you,” said a voice deep with aggression.
It was not in his nature to submit to that, but Baba was well-endowed with both muscle and skill. As an arm snaked around his neck, Tamacti yanked down on it with both hands, attempting to break the hold. “I’d rather…you didn’t,” he grated, struggling to swallow.~

Summary
Tamacti learns more about Baba's past.
[Set during S2 ep 8: Immediately following the Battle of Greenhill Gap.]~Despite the cold, Tamacti could feel the heat steaming from Baba as he passed, as if it had taken great effort to make it back. There was no quiet creak of leather armor, only the subtle rustle of cloth, and the overwhelming smell of wet earth and blood. He wondered what had happened.
Baba managed to avoid hitting the noise traps that were standard issue in Payan tents, but collapsed heavily onto a bench close to the fire, where he remained for several moments, breathing unevenly.~

[Set between S2 ep 4 and 5.]~For weeks, the former head of Queen Kane’s Witchfinders had been travelling with the group he once persecuted, including a witch and her guardians. In that time, he discovered levels of tolerance he never before had need of. It was the only way to handle people who would rather he die than help them. The Compass warrior Charlotte, and Paris, the presage of a tribe he had destroyed, were both sworn to protect the sighted against Witchfinders. They despised him for who he was, and what he had done, but as long as Princess Maghra considered these people her allies, he could not be their enemy.~

[Events immediately following S1 ep 8, with spoilers for S2 ep 4.]~A life spent protecting Kanzua, and Sibeth Kane had destroyed it. Now she clutched at his arm like a wretched creature, entreating him to die rather than take revenge. She deserved death more than loyalty, but it was not worth violating his oath when he was so near the end. Offering a silent prayer to the God Flame, he pulled her closer, wrapping her trembling fingers around the blood-slick handle of the witch’s knife—an invitation she gratefully accepted. Nothing remained but to finish what was started.
This time the impact of the blade was crippling, searing deeper with each breath.~

[Events immediately following the S1 ep3 scene where Queen Kane intercepts Tamacti Jun on the edge of the Kanzua dam.]~Staff gripped firmly in hand, Tamacti Jun waited for whatever had overcome his queen to run its course. The narrow bridge, moments ago a means to an end, was now a cause for concern, and he dared not move until she had composed herself. Despite his long absence, some things had not changed. The queen of Paya had always been ruled by emotion, but after so many years, he believed there was little she could do to surprise him—until she had suddenly joined him, inches from eternity.~
