Summary
After returning from the Take That concert in Belfast, the girls (and James) fall asleep on the bus ride home and end up in another Derry that isn't theirs, where they stumble upon their own alternate-dimension counterparts. For the most part, their counterparts aren't too different from themselves. They've got the same looks, the same voices, and pretty much the same personalities.
Except that in this world, their James isn't English. He's Irish.

“You’ve been asked to take on a child kidnapping case.” He handed him the other folders, “A twelve-year-old, a boy, was rescued from a motel room just two weeks ago,” Jack continues, “He’d been living there with an ex-monk from some monastery in South Dakota, who’d been apparently trafficking him.” Jack’s face turns grim, “Unfortunately, he’s decided to plead not guilty. The boy needs a lawyer to fight the case, make sure the bastard goes to prison. We figured you'll be able to handle this. One of the detectives on the case reccomended you. This kid's coming all the way from Montana to have you as his lawyer."
“A twelve-year-old?” Jack nods. A young child, Harold realizes, a chill washing over his skin.
Harold thinks for a second, as his eyes glaze over the pale yellow covers of the folders, “What’s his name?”
“Jude St Francis”.

"Nothing was happening," Tails grumbles a bit too gloomy for his brother not to notice.
"I can tell by your gleeful demeanor," Sonic retorts.
"Do you even know what those words mean?" Tails asks and rolls his eyes.
"I know a lot of words, I know all of them, actually," Sonic responds and uses his upper body strength to sit up without moving his legs. The hedgehog grabs one of the fox's tails and starts running his fingers through it. Tails only flinches a little when the hedgehog's thumb brushes over the scar at the base, "But that's not the point, you've been acting off ever since you and the kiddos had that talk. They were being nice to you, right?"

Sonic should be happy. No one is chasing him. No city is burning. Tails is safe, Amy’s humming carols, the Master Emerald is stable, and Shadow hasn’t tried to punch him in at least three days.
So why does it feel worse when things are calm?
When a strange snowstorm hits Station Square and the Chaos Emeralds start resonating again, everyone assumes it’s just another mission.
For Sonic, it’s something scarier: the universe asking him to stand still long enough to see what’s left of him when he’s not running.
