She wondered if her death would be painful. She hoped not; she thought she deserved a little more than that, after all that she'd sacrificed.
She smiled as it all went dark.
Lieutenant Commander Janine Shepard woke with a start, her lips parched, and her hair matted in sweat. She brought up her omni-tool and displayed the time: 5:27, 17th of March, 2183.
