    "Diluc," she starts again, "if I may ask for your advice on a matter....nevermind actually."

    "Jean, please." Diluc holds out a hand to signal her to sit again. "I'll be happy to try and help you on any matter."

    A lie perhaps, but a well meant one. He'd not be happy to try to fix a mistake the knights had made. But Jean was not only the Acting Grandmaster but foremost a childhood friend. There were not many things left from his carefree past and the friendship with Jean was not something he was willing to let go.

    " It's about Kaeya," she says.

    Archons, nevermind, Diluc thought. Just because their pet turtles used to be playmates when they were young, didn't mean he'd have to help her with that.

     

    Or: Newly revealed documents threaten Kaeya's position within the Ordo. Jean and Diluc come up with a plan to stop that. Nevermind Diluc's emotions making that way harder than it has to be.
