Summary
Gem is tired. Session 8 of Past Life has weighed on her body, mind and heart more than any other season of the Life Series.
Now that another season is finally over, she is scared to go and face the rest of Hermitcraft again. Scared to see friends whom she fought and killed, scared to see faces of allies who she couldn't save, scared to face the one who betrayed her at her weakest moment.
But when she realizes that Pearl is in her base waiting for her, she decides that Hermitcraft can wait for her.

“Listen to me,” the monster says again, words careful, slow, and dangerous. “You have ten seconds to get out of here before I claw you to death. And tell no one about it, or so help me I will make you regret it.”
Pearl, logically, should be terrified of this statement. But somewhere in the monster’s deep eyes, she can see a flash of emotion. Pearl might very well be going insane, but she swears she sees it—this isn’t the thoughtless, heartless beast that she’s been told about. This is someone like her. This is someone who maybe doesn’t want to kill if she doesn’t have to.
