“Shhh, it was centuries ago.” Levi reached a tentative hand out to pat his friend’s head in comfort. “I’m perfectly fine now. No stab wounds, see?”
“Wha— Stab wounds?!” Eren cried, flinging his arms around Levi once more. “No! I won’t let them stab you!! I’ll— I’ll fight whoever stabbed you! Don’t die on meeeeee, Leviiii!”
“I’m not dying, idiot. It was a long, long time ago. Do you remember Cleopatra? It was sometime around when she died.”
Eren gasped as tears kept dripping down his cheeks. “Now she’s dying too?! So many people today……” He pulled back suddenly, eyes shining with misplaced worry. “Did she stab you? I’ll fight her! Don’t care about the snakes, I’mma get to her throne so fast and- and- I'll stab her too!!! Then I’ll come back and save you.”

Eren and Levi, despite the incredibly high alcohol tolerance that they've built up over the centuries, manage to get drunk off of wine that they definitely didn't steal. Somehow, through the grief and loss, they get closer than they'd ever imagined they could.

Summary
Transtempus- adj. "across time." Using an experimental and highly controversial method of penalization, aspiring attorney Eren Jeager must go back in time to try to prevent a string of murders spanning several decades, committed by none other than Levi Ackerman. By traveling into the man's youth to provide him with preliminary rehabilitation, Eren begins to realize that things are never as simple as they look on paper.
