Aerion had stopped at the castle’s entrance, leering his head over his shoulder. His eyes were aflame with something Duncan could not place. And then from his lips, a sound came, like cinders spitting. A laugh.
“You really have no shame,” he said. “Say please, beast, and I’ll consider.”
After having fought with Prince Aerion in the puppet tent, Duncan is brought before the council to be judged. Though, instead of a trial by combat, or death by hanging, he is made a knight of the Kingsguard - to keep Aerion in his place.
