Mingi's eyes sparkle for a split second, in barely concealed hurt, then harden with what Hongjoong immediately recognizes as spite.Then he sings even louder, coming closer to Hongjoong. Fire grows slowly in Hongjoong's lungs.
The captain slams his phone on one of the counters beneath the mirrors and gets up, eyes looking right into Mingi's, gaze hardening. Looking, searching for who's going to break first. Mingi's stopped his dancing, but sings still, pushing Hongjoong further, crowding him, always testing the limits.

When his little friend is done with his shower, Hongjoong lets him climb on his lap. Petting his head a couple times, he is rewarded with gentle purring, as he raises on his hind paws to come closer to his face. The cat sniffs him a few times, then gently headbutts Hongjoong's chin.
Hongjoong laughs silently, feeling so loved his heart warms up."I met you literally less than a day ago. And you're already in my lap giving me kisses ? I'm not usually such an easy boy, you know ?"
He slides his hands along a spine, feeling hard knobs under his hands.
"You're definitely too thin, my guy. You probably don't have a family, huh ?"
Hongjoong backs up his head to look at the little cat. The cat doesn't understand him, but the look in his eyes seems sad to Hongjoong.
"I know what that's like. I used to be alone for a long time. Before my family found me."
Shadow wriggles in his lap and searches for the most comfortable position to nap. So Hongjoong keeps talking.

"He decides against checking the group chat that morning, and it has nothing to do with the fact he’s afraid of what he’ll read. He isn’t the slightest bit worried about seeing anything that will remind him of the tweets he had been obsessing over, has no worries in the back of his head that one of his friends will call Mingi by that specific nickname that will send him into yet another spiral for the third day in a row.
His fingers do, however, hover over Mingi’s contact.
He wants to ask why he left. He wants to ask if they’re okay. He wants to ask why Mingi looked so miserable over such a small issue. It feels heartless of him to ask that, but his mind is desperate to cling to the idea that it’s a small issue, perhaps in a concealed hope that it’ll be revealed that it’s not small whatsoever, that there’s an underlying sentiment to it that makes the whole thing much more significant, and that maybe, just maybe, Kim Hongjoong isn’t crazy and something deeper is at play.

Yoongi leans close, closer, their mouths nearly fucking touching. Namjoon’s fingers dig in-between the gaps of Yoongi’s ribs. “Suran can’t come,” he repeats, loud, breath ghosting over Namjoon’s skin, heavy with spicy whiskey and cigarette smoke. “Too late.”
Namjoon leans even closer, and this time there’s no where else to go; their lips are officially touching. “Sucks,” Namjoon slurs. And before his useless fucking brain can decide what to do about this sudden development, Yoongi appears to have a better handle on reality than he does, because Yoongi’s kissing him, little puckers of his lips against Namjoon’s that would make smacking sounds if the club wasn’t so god damn loud.
He lets Yoongi do it. The hand over Yoongi’s ribs rub down to his hips, then up again, over and over, unable to be seen since it’s happening underneath his jacket. Adrenaline and pure joy seems to be affecting both of them, not just Namjoon; they’ve never experienced this level of success in the past four years of building a cheap excuse of a career.
