Confirmation bias: the human tendency to search for, interpret, and recall information that aligns with our existing beliefs, while ignoring or dismissing evidence that contradicts them.
No matter what Grace tries to tell him, Simon is very sure that the man is divine in nature. It just makes sense.

Simon winds up in The Enclosure, naturally. Grace is super down to have human company on planet Erid, but he really wishes someone would have given him a little bit of warning first. Especially about Simon’s religious cult upbringing — if he had known about that, he maybe could have planned a better-worded greeting that wasn’t basically, “Be Not Afraid.” He really set them up for failure with that one.

Love the in-detail stuff about Simon's mutations and just how convinced he is that Grace is an angel.
The medical science stuff is great, too.YIPPEE Miscommunication situations my beloved, GO!!! Cannot wait for the fallout of all this "I'm dead in heaven" dumbassery from Simon. He only has himself to blame for assuming literally everything but also Grace is gonna blame himself for never having made it abundantly clear either even tho it's not his fault.
Seriously why would you ever need to prepare for a blood-covered man to appear out of nowhere and assume you're a divine immortal being???

If you have no needs, you don't have any negative to measure against the good. It's all just meh. Yummy food is good, breathing is good, touch is good. Even if I didn't have needs in heaven, I'd still want to eat yummy food. I would require my plushies and music and videogames
I would need a way to communicate with my friends (once they, too, die :( sad but true.) and all that. I'm a needy-greedy little bitch and I have WANTS.(Self) Reminder to look up everything about amputations and tourniquets.
