Summary
The double doors open, Maddie links her arm with his and they step out into the aisle. The sun feels extra warm as the rays kiss his skin. Maddie is a solid grounding presence at his side, keeping him tethered to the here and now so he doesn’t just float away, filled with the kind of giddy lightness he didn’t think existed in real life.
Out in the crowd he sees his own parents, then Eddie’s, Abuela and Tía Pepa sit near the front, Athena is smiling big when they pass, Hen and Karen right beside her. At the very end of the aisle Bobby stands, small notebook in hand and that steady, safe smile aimed right at Buck.
“You ready, kid?” He asks once Buck finds his mark. As his best woman, Maddie drops his arm and moves to stand beside him.
“Never been more ready for anything in my life,” he answers truthfully and Bobby and Maddie both beam.
The music changes and the doors open again. His breath stutters in his chest, because there are Eddie and Chris, bathed in the soft evening light, coming straight down the aisle to him.

After “platonically” getting married at the courthouse so Eddie and Christopher don’t lose their insurance, Buck and Eddie romantically renew their vows.
