But Derek's straight, straight as an arrow, or at least Stiles thinks so.

Or, the one where Holivia stunt ends, dwd flops and My Policeman gets lots of oscar nominations. Now, it is March 2023, Louis can't be there with him even though his bearding relationship with Eleanor and bbg are already done and he is in the process of coming out himself (apparently, coming out was one thing, but them being a couple... that was perjudicial for their careers and shall remain hidden). So what he does instead is a rbb photocall with the one and only Niall Horan while they watch Harry on the TV screen.
Meanwhile, Harry Styles remembers his past and finds himself on stage with an oscar in hand and, perhaps, his only chance to be free.

It’s not that Louis doesn’t like Nick. He is, if he’s being honest, kind of indifferent. Louis gets that Nick is just doing his job most of the time, being loud and prying, not having boundaries. But it’s just a little too much for Louis’ taste. Louis, who has learned over the years, when to be loud and when to know that coy is the game. But, it doesn’t matter really. He’s not required to like everyone, doesn’t have to make nice with them outside of having a camera shoved in his face. He can let Nick be Nick and it shouldn’t affect Louis at all.

What Louis actually has a problem with is the way Nick Grimshaw looks at Harry.

Derek wakes gently with the whispering of wind through maples, pines, and sugar plums outside his open window. The distant sound of the water lapping shore across the road. Cars on the highway, people beginning their daily routine. Work, run errands, go home. Eat, sleep, work. Work. Rinse. Repeat.
Derek doesn’t bother sitting, only turns his head to watch. The way the sun's rays cling to the length of his lashes, lighting his irises like fire topaz. He’s beautiful. And he’s not real. But he looks at Derek with sincere concern and affection, a slow smile rising from where he stands in the corner of the room.
