Summary
Neil, despite the plethora of charges on his record, has never once been forced to go to therapy by anyone. He has had to pay bail, attend rehabilitation sessions, do community work, whatever the ruling was, he did it. He doesn't need therapy because there is nothing wrong with him. Todd, despite the let down of a career path, has no choice but to convince Neil that there are many things wrong with him. The first being that he isn't the Neil that Todd remembers from Welton.
Alternatively; Neil is like a fucked up Mark Twain character and Todd is right out of Shakespeare, and they hate it about each other so much that they have no choice but to love it.
