"What was it after?" asked Cid, who was now properly paying attention.
Cloud shrugged. Then he took another breath.

"It said I was part of a project," he said dryly.
Cloud hallucinates. Voices sometimes, or music -- it's hard to tell. It's just another consequence of Jenova's encroaching presence in his DNA, and four years after Meteorfall everyone's more or less adapted to it and other oddities associated with being not quite human. Mostly.
What begins as a chance encounter with something that isn't Jenova soon leads to a fight for survival that can no longer be contained in the spaces between numbers, as Cloud tries to keep himself together and finally put his past behind him.

Summary
During a meeting with Yen Sid, everyone's GummiPhones go off, notifying them of an update to the GummiShip manual. One of these updates mentions a new way to recharge the ships' power: sexual activity. While the rest of them discuss who possibly could have discovered such, Riku remembers the event in question. The others figure it out, and much teasing ensues.

“I feel mildly cornered into this,” Riku says, mildly, raising his eyebrows a mild amount. He’s a decidedly picture-perfect example of the nonchalance that he is not feeling mentally, where several red flags are raised and many alarms are blaring.
“Fine,” he grouses out, and that is how Riku ends up fake-dating his best friend.
