There’s blood on her arm, blood on the hotel sheets, a trail of it on the cheap Kazimierzan carpets leading to the door. Blood seeping into the cute little Colombian-style cocktail dress Sciurus has on beneath her shawl, soaking beneath her pretty manicured fingernails as she presses Yucatan’s jacket against Monch’s arm.
“You idiot!” she’s shouting, but there’s a wobble in her voice, a tremble to her fingers. “You absolute idiot!”
Monch is a mess, but Sciurus is unblemished, and that’s all that really matters.
